36 + 6 makes baby!
Well I did it... He's here!!! Born at 6:38pm, 7lb 7oz and 19" @ 36wk + 6d in Madison, AL on Aug 5, 2014
it was a monger journey and I will gladly share it all, but its 230am and I will just share a snippet...
8/5
-1am awoke to severe back pain radiating from shoulders to lower back.
-2am nausea enters. Take zofran and tylenol. Able to nap til 5am.
-5am get up to turn off kitchen lights and go pee. Use toilet and a gush comes out. I think to myself my water broke, walk around a little and continue to leak.
-510am call nurse line, they tell me to leave right away
-630am arrive at hospital as a family. Get admitted.
-7am admitted to triage, broken water. Only 3cm, 70% effaced. Get IVs started, paperwork, blood drawn.
-10am get transferred to labor & delivery (they were swamped!)
-1030am get started on Pitocin, IV fluids, etc. Only about 4cm
-Noon get medicine before epidural
-1pm get epidural, pain unbearable. Start to drop blood pressure. Several nurses rush in, I get very sleepy, nauseated and oxygen mask put on. After rolling me/baby our blood pressure goes to normal. Very scary!!!
-3pm get checked again, 7cm
-530pm complain of pressure. Checked and a 10... lets go!
-6pm started pushing. He was VERY high up and a slow mover. Took about 15 sets of pushes (3each), his shoulder was getting stuck. But then he came out, the push was a huge relief. I forgot how painful that all is. I don't ever want to do it again. Lol

36 Weeks
{WARNING: TMI, GRAPHIC POST}
Tomorrow marks the date I made it with Keaton. 36wk + 2. Lordy... I sure hope we can make it to 37wks. I mean that as far as physical pain. The past 4 or 5 days have been extreme constipation, I mean so painful I'd rather have been in labor -- seriously. Now I can really sympathize with my friend going through Kidney Stones. I feel like I have stones up me. I have been eating, in my opinion, a lot of fibrous foods. Just in case though, I picked up some raspberries yesterday and a bottle of Colace stool softener. I popped the max dose and some raspberries at dinner hour... feeling a bit better now, but it sure was a struggle to pass three stools. Especially a surprise one at 11pm that had me so blocked and swollen I could barely urinate!! I've felt fine since, but who knows what the day brings.
My vag walls are swollen, I have a clear mucus discharge and a yellow one... not sure if its parts of my plug or just vag discharge. It will be interesting to see how dialated I am this time due to all my pains. I definitely think she will say I am a 4... but I'll update this later when I visit her at 1030. Lets also hope its not another 2hr visit... that was miserable.
I have actually been able to sleep more.... only waking up 2-3x a night versus the previous 4-5x. But I feel a strong pulling sensation right now on the front of my pelvis and inside me. I hope his head is engaged and that we are just waiting for contractions. I walked 4hrs yesterday and got nothing.

Potty Training, School & a Baby!
I am excited to start making him little lunches, though. I get so inspired by the ideas on Pinterest and now I can put those to use! I just found this great website Bento USA and I have to say, if you're into the Bento Box craze like I am -- you'll love this store! They have a flat rate shipping of $6.00 (though, this time I upgraded to the $14.99 delivery to *hopefully* get it before school starts). Their store is very overwhelming, I recommend having at least a good half hour to browse it all. I ended up buying 12 items for a total of $45.49 + my $14.99 upgraded shipping cost. I can't complain!! The most expensive item was Keaton's bento boxes -- which were only $6.75/each! I tried to find them cheaper on Amazon and in fact they were about $4 more per box. Below is a photo of a lot of the goodies I got, including sandwich/cheese cutters, food decorating picks (for grapes, strawberries, cheese), a cold pack, food dividers, and even little silicone cups for dividing food. Many of the items were under $2.99. We've been lucky that he hasn't been in the "my food is touching" phase, but I'm sure that is to come.

35 weeks!!
I only have one more week to meet my goal for the hospital of choice. I have been SO thirsty. Sleeping miserably (combined 5hrs tops). I developed a canker sore for the first time in years (I read this is common in pregnancy?) & despite good care, my gums have started swelling, ugh. I have been having SHARP, I mean excruciating stabbing pains in my cervix -- dilation perhaps??
I've noticed my hand swelling around my ring fingers have decreased significantly... perhaps from the lack of sugars I've consumed??? I have also LOST weight, I assume from all the bathroom trips lately. Last night I had to empty a FULL bladder 5 times in 1.5hrs, oh my word. Lol.
Clean eating has been really hard, but I've been following the Weight Watchers point system... I am allowed 34pts a day (41 when I begin breastfeeding). I am also stopping by the store today to replenish some groceries, I've been obsessed hardcore with feta/green grape/grape tomato salads with a splash of balsamic vinegar. So amazing. I added watermelon to it yesterday. A sinfully delicious treat! :)
I've also found comfort in yoplait light yogurt, progresso light canned soups, broccoli slaw salad (steamed with goat cheese tastes like pasta!). I love apples and peanut butter, mozzarella string cheese and blueberries. This reminds me I need to place an order for nuts and dried fruit to make my on the go snacks when nursing. I'm making zuchinni boats tonight as a potato skins swap. And stuffed portobello mushrooms as mock pizza. The boys will get actual pizza though.
I am thankful for knowledge with Hungry Girl and access to all the WW groups and recipes. It's also helpful that I have an amazing support system, though we don't talk daily I know they have my back! :)

Polyhydramnios
Ever heard of it? Had it? Well, at my 34 week check up the doctor gave me a heart attack by telling me I do. It's excess amniotic fluid. A growth ultrasound showed this, which can mean many things but we're (Ryan and myself) pretty sure I am a borderline gestational diabetic. The doctor told me to eat like a diabetic, even though I don't have diabetes. This means low carb, NO sugar. Oh my there goes my satisfying cravings... ice cream, licorice, popsicles, cookies. So sad!!
The reason? Less sugar = less urine produced by Corbin = less overall fluid. Interestingly enough, today being day 4 I have realized I go to the bathroom less at night (2-3x versus 4-5x) and have more energy. I also haven't had as severe of pelvic pressure.
Speaking of that pressure. Turns out I am 2cm dilated already. The hospital only admits if you're 4cm. Which reminds me I need to pre-register today, bleh.
On a happy note, we toured Madison Hospital yesterday and I am 100% certain I want to deliver there. No doubt in my mind. Love at first sight. They only deliver about 2 babies a day, but have plenty of ldr and mommy baby rooms to handle more. The whole 2nd floor has everything on it... OR to LDR to nursery, etc. It's very clean and organized, hardwood floors and tons of natural lighting. Very refreshing. It's quiet and clearly a good pampering provided by nurses... each nurse is assigned one patient!! The rooms have these awesome cubby doors for garbage or meal trays that are accessible from the hallway, so janitors don't have to interrupt mommy. It definitely reminded me of those fancy recovery rooms on TV that look like a hotel room with a hospital bed. Definitely didn't feel like we were in a hospital. They allow as many guests during delivery as we want, hopefully my family can come see the final baby born!
They also allow immediate skin to skin contact, breastfeeding and prefer baby to stay in the room with mommy. I love it!!! The only downfall is no emergency NICU but I am confident Corbin will be as healthy as his big brother!!
My next appointment is July 31 where I will be 36 weeks. This pregnancy is honestly going so fast.

32 weeks
I'm almost 32 weeks.. I feel like I swallowed a pumpkin. Some days a watermelon. Even though he's only the size of a head of lettuce. I am not as exhausted as I was with Keaton which is funny, I have more responsibility these days but just keep moving. My right ribs are extremely painful, I think he's bruised them. I need to ask my doctor about it this weekend.
He is very active and I'm still not used to it. He rolls around a lot and I've even felt a hand or foot right against my belly button. Protruding it. Creepy.
We did decide on a name... Corbin Richard. Corbin means raven which is a gift to god as the raven was the first bird Noah released from the ark to make sure the land was safe. Honest though, it was just the first name we both 100% agreed on. The meaning happened to be luck! :) and now both my boys names have "bird" meanings... keaton means from the place of hawks.

It's A....
We had our 20 week ultrasound this morning, where we learned we are having another BOY. Yay! Glad I saved all those clothes... and now Keaton will have a built-in best friend for life!! I was a little sad at first by not having one of each gender, but really I couldn't be more ecstatic now that it's sunk in. He's healthy in every way possible - 10 fingers, 10 toes, growing strong. He's 11 ounces and heartbeat was 159!
Here's some photos!

New Neighbors
Well after exactly 3yrs of living here, we finally are getting neighbors!! Here's the current progress and what I think our projected sunlight view will be. Doesn't seem too awful. We'll know in a few months how accurate I am.

Sixteen Days + New Meds
I've been working on my Target Baby Registry, mostly for ourselves -- I'm not having a baby shower and doubt anyone outside of immediate family will be shopping for us, but you never know. I've decided we'll use Honest.com diapers as we already get the monthly subscription for everything else use -- their toothpaste honest to God makes me want to brush my teeth all day, it's amazing and totally kills my sweet tooth cravings! Seriously. I just ordered their mouth wash and can NOT contain my excitement... yes... over mouth wash!!! Their diaper bundles are a really good value for being organic plus they'll be delivered right to my door. So if you're in the market for a gift for me... an honest.com gift card or the organic swaddles would be amazing & I'd love you forever!!! It's true what people say about your 2nd child... you're more particular in what you want, you're more adamant of what you'll do and you really know the things you don't need {all those gimmick products they throw at first time moms}. Plus... everything at the baby store is completely different. Like OK, did you know they have a baby bathtub with whirlpool and sprayer? What the heck, man??
Anyways, only like 16 days until we *hopefully* get to see the gender. Okay so we are 80% sure of what it is, but as I was talking to my really good friend Jennifer - who has a boy & a girl - she thinks it's the opposite, so really I'm not certain, just going off what the tech told me. I can't wait to show the new office to Ryan though, he is going to LOVE this doctor and her staff and the whole office in general. I know I do. Heck, makes me want to have more babies {okay really, let's see how well this baby labor goes... and how their behavior for the first year is, haha}.
One new thing I am doing with this baby & don't judge me for it, I'm going to breastfeed for maybe 6 weeks then switch to formula. It's a personal choice. I didn't "enjoy" breastfeeding like some women do. I did it because that's what doctor's recommend. I did it for what the health benefits are -- and yes I have one heck of a healthy boy, but I also know kids who were formula fed from day one and are just AS healthy. I'll try to pump the heck out of my breasts to get a good freezer supply, but I also know that I won't have the time to dedicate to 1-on-1 feeding as I did with Keaton. And I am most certainly OK with that as is Ryan and our families. So if anyone has any super recommendations on BOTTLES that'd be fantastic as Keaton never did bottles well {poor latch at first} and we just never had a need after he was supplemented for jaundice. Even as he got older he went straight to sippy cups, straws and then to cups without straws within about 6 months.
I do however plan to 100% make my own food. NO jars of foods. *maybe* the occasional pouch for on the go ease but you can bet I'm working on my ORGANIC garden -- from the soil to composting to the seeds so that this baby has 100% organic baby food fed to him/her.

17 weeks
We got to see the baby yesterday, the tech couldn't make out for certain if it was a boy or girl so we will or should know on April 8th!!! I am making announcement cards, so relatives will get them in the mail vs an announcement publicly.. neener neener.
Baby is great. 154 heart rate, showing as 3 days ahead... this happens with big babies too, which run in my family... keaton would have been over 8.5 lbs at full term.
I'm still at my pre pregnancy weight and in pre pregnancy clothes, but I really ought to start shopping soon for summer maternity styles. Leggings are a blessing!!
Doc called in a new RX for me, Reglan, for my migraines. Beats paying a neurologist like old doc wanted me to do. She also gave me the option to take progesterone shots weekly until 37weeks to avoid preemie... um no thanks! Lol. She agreed.
Love the new doc office. Everyone I mean everyone is so nice, staff and patients. Got a huge goodie bag when I got there... 9 formula samples, 3 keepsake containers, inflatable nursing pillow, 8 or so prenatal package samples, diaper rash sample, 2 bottles and more. Love it, because this time around I am very open to the idea of formula feeding with Similac. After nursing Keaton for 2.5yrs with no will power, I vow to change that now. Haters and judgements can be taken elsewhere, I am the mother and this is my child and my choice!
I still need to shop for a new car seat. We got rid of Ks because he hated it... why make the mistake twice? So I'm looking at Graco and Britax, they have to be red black or gray to match the bumbleride... or a new stroller/seat set if I find a deal under $200 which I may toward summer sales.

15 weeks
15 week, 4 days. Still in Old Navy jeans and regular t shirts, but showing a bit... I still think I just look bloated but a few weeks ago someone told me I "look very pregnant" so maybe it's just me!

9 weeks
It's getting harder to hold in. I'm on my last pair of pants... but I've still not gained any weight. Definitely different than the first pregnancy when I was in regular clothes until 20 weeks... I don't think I will make it that far. Sigh.
I've been trying to browse for maternity clothes, I am hopeful to just buy a pair or two of designer jeans, used, so that I can resell when I'm done and not be at a huge loss financially.
This summer my plan is to wear a lot of cute maxi dresses, leggings with tunics and the like. With Keaton being a May baby, I was pretty much embracing the maternity sweaters and jeans. Even after he was born my cute maternity clothes just didn't fit my non baby belly body so I got rid of a lot (most were from Old Navy, so a bit cheap quality to begin with).
So far I feel pretty good. My nausea is no where near what it was in Florida, I've only had to take my Zofran twice and none of my Promethazine (& I have a years supply). Knock on wood.
I've had the recent opportunity to buy a car seat, brand new for $45 & have until tomorrow to decide. The more I sleep on it the more I pass on it. It only goes to 22lb and while I already plan to buy another Recaro for their 1st birthday like we did Keaton, I wonder what if this baby is totally different on the scale than Keaton (who mind you isn't even 30lbs yet). And I'd hate to have to buy 2 car seats in the first year.... so to sacrifice back breaking weight I have a feeling I'll end up with the Britax and shell out more money. But being about the only major necessity (aside from diapers, wipes and clothing) I think its important to buy the best no matter the price.
We already have a swing, bouncy seat, activity center & jumperoo (when they're 6m+), two bath tubs, a stroller, endless infant toys and blankets, highchair and bumbo seat... so really all I *need* is the car seat. If it's a girl, I think I could persuade a few friends with one of each to trade off clothes for a few early months to save money. I know a lot of my friends hoard baby clothes like I do. Haha. Storage closet anyone??
In the meantime what I haven't mentioned is hubby is seeking a new position. His current one will terminate after July. He'll be able to stay with his company but may be relocated to a less than desirable position or office. He is a contractor with the Army and the Army recently discontinued the Kiowa Helicopter which he was working on. So... he is job hunting and we're praying that something great comes along. Especially something with incredible benefits as his company this year really slid downhill. I mean cmon I paid $500 for all of Keatons OB services. This time they are costing me almost $2500!!! :(

8 weeks
Today we're officially 8 weeks. I started the morning with an ultrasound, a healthy little bumblebee already taking after their brother by being a squirmy little one! Heartrate was 173 and measuring perfectly for my 8-27 due date!
The nurse gave me a flu shot, drew 6 vials of blood and gave me my prescriptions. Yay for zofran, phenergan and birth control!!
We found out with our awful BCBS insurance, we owe almost $2500 for coverage, wow!!! Much higher than the $500 we owed for Keaton. thankful for our Wage Works HSA acct, we already have the funds saved -- and more! That's a true blessing to have been prepared.
We'll know on Mar 12th whether we're having a boy or girl, given that bumblebee shows their goods. To be honest, a girl would be wonderful but I would be just as excited for a boy. I see my friends with two boys and love how connected they are as siblings. I've never been a girly girl, but having a girl would be SO fun too!
We're already planning to have the two share a room. If you've ever seen Keatons room you'd understand why... its huge. And it's neutral themed... jungle meets toy story. LOL. Either way we're using the same crib and bedding, but will save up for a few new items especially if it is a girl... for all those clothes.
Next appt is Feb 12th, nothing exciting then except to check in, get weighed, pee in a cup etc!
Will update more frequently now that we've made an announcement.
